Who is the WSSC?
We are located just north of East Fork Lake in Olney, IL and operate as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit equestrian club.
Our club is proud to boast a full-size 140’ x 240’ equestrian arena to host western horse shows, barrel races, ropings, educational clinics and more! Not only do we have a full-size arena, but we also have over 5 miles of trails available for walking or trail riding that are open to the public.
We offer limited camping with water and electric hook-up upon request.
General parking offers limited shade options with personal canopies recommended.

HORSE SHOW RULES
1. Full western attire or member shirts are expected in western type classes including halter and showmanship.
2. Waivers must be signed by all participants, parent or guardian must sign for minors.
3. Class entries close when previous class begins.
4. No refunds for any reason unless class is cancelled.
5. Tack changes are limited to ten (10) minutes. If more time is needed, please be courteous and alert the announcer/ring steward.
6. Drag will be announced at the beginning of each speed class.
7. No horses in the arena during any drags or arena setup.
8. Participants should be in makeup arena prepared to enter when class is called and exit arena immediately upon class completion unless addressed otherwise by the judge, ring steward, or announcer.
9. Gates closed after all exhibitors have entered the arena, excluding IBRA and NBHA shows.
10. 5 seconds penalty for each barrel or pole downed during speed events or disqualification if horse and rider are off pattern. IBRA and NBHA shows timed per association rules.
11. The ring steward has the authority to remove any horse from the arena deemed out of control or dangerous.
12. No disorderly conduct allowed or tolerated.
13. Decision of Judge and Show Committee is final.
14. Check return fee - $25.00
POINTS ACCUMULATION:
Points are awarded 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, if there are five or more in a class. If there are fewer than 5 entries points shall be awarded based on the number of entries (4 in a class, 1st place receives 4 points, etc.)
YEAR END AWARDS & POINT QUALIFYING RULES
1. Points will follow horse/handler combinations for both participation and class accumulation, ages for divisions determined by handler age on January 1 of the corresponding year.
2. One attendance point will be given for each show attended.
3. Awards considered based on budget for Pee-Wee 6 and under, Youth aged 7-13, youth aged 14-18, and adult. Must meet all eligibility criteria to be considered.
4. Youth points will be considered for handlers under 18 years of age in each respective age division, while open points will be considered for adults.
5. Ages 6 and under eligible only for In-hand, pattern, and speed division awards.
6. Horse/handler must participate in at least 3 shows to be eligible for point accumulation.
7. Youth handlers provided with assistance (with or without lead line) will be scored under youth handlers without assistance regardless of time and scores then accumulated chronologically for each status.
8. In all cases, membership must be paid before ANY points will count towards year end awards.
9. Fun classes do not count towards year end awards but may receive special recognition for top performers based on budget.
10. Classes eligible for awards include the following divisions for youth 18 and under and adult horse/handler combinations respectively: In-hand (halter, showmanship), Rail (Walk-Trot, Western Pleasure, Ranch Pleasure), Pattern (Horsemanship, Trail), Speed (Flags, Poles, Barrels).
Ties:
Ties in year end points will be broken to award only one champion. If exhibitors tie for champion, the following will be tie-breaker criteria in order:
- Number of shows attended.
- Fastest time for speed events.
- Most first placings or highest placings, respectively.
- Highest number of total overall points for that year.
The exhibitor that loses the champion tiebreaker will not be awarded but may be eligible for a reserve award based on budget.
Point System:
